Inauguration of Training and Production Centers under 'Disha'(An NGO at New Delhi,Haryana State) Project held at Sundh and Kalwari Panchayats of Mewat District's Taoru Block. These centers are part of the pilot ‘Skill Development and Livelihood Generation for Women through Upcycling Textile Waste’ and are supported by the 'Disha' project. Disha a partnership between United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), India Development Foundation (IDF) and supported by IKEA Foundation.
This pilot project aims to map and establish markets for textile waste products. It will work to create economic opportunities in communities by establishing home-based production systems, engaging trained women to produce marketable textile from textile waste products and thereby increasing incomes and resulting in the economic empowerment of women.
Training and infrastructure support for this pilot project is provided by Rites Limited (Rail India Technical & Economic Service Ltd.) – a Government of India Enterprise.
